About

Union Farmers Co-op is a locally owned farm supply, lawn & garden, automotive care, and outdoor power equipment store. Conveniently located on Highway 33 in Maynardville, the store is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable employees who love helping customers select the right products for the best results in every situation.

Our History

Union Farmers Cooperative was established on February 7, 1948 by a forward thinking group of local farmers who wanted a dependable source of quality farm supplies like feed, seed, and fertilizer. Incorporating directors were C.T. Booker, W.H. Harless, T.T. Cook, Ernest M. Bowman, J.H. Baker, Curtis Kitts, Ruble Jessee, E.C. Shelby, George Walker, E.G. Kelly, and John Davis.

The Co-op was first located in a small building on old Highway 33 just across from what is now Horace Maynard Middle School.  It moved to its current location in 1974. The business continued to grow, and in 1988, a modern car center was built on the property. The Co-op added a bulk fertilizer building in 1990 to better meet the needs of its farmer-member-owners.

The farmer-owned business continues to focus on meeting the changing needs of its member-owners. It still offers basic farm inputs and a wide selection of farm equipment needs, including hay equipment and fencing products.

But in recent years, product offering has expanded to appeal to the county’s growing population. Lawn and garden products, mulch, and power equipment are among top sellers. The store offers hunting products, clothing and boots, companion animal care and equine products that appeal to a growing rural lifestyle customer. The Co-op’s tire center continues to offer farm tires, as well as products for passenger vehicles and light trucks.
